Quick Start

ParaChat LiveHelp allows agents of your organization to chat in real time with visitors to your web site, to monitor visitor activity as they navigate through your web site, and to view an abundance of analytic reporting about your web site.

 

The ParaChat LiveHelp Client is the primary tool used to live chat with visitors, monitor visitors, and to view real-time statistics and analytic reports. The ParaChat LiveHelp Client can be installed on any Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 2003 or 2008 computer. It's designed to give you a fast, feature rich view of your site without the constraints of a browser-based solution. The Client can show visitor information from multiple monitored sites, and allow you to see and chat to other agents within your organization.

 

Downloading The ParaChat LiveHelp Client Software

 

To start, you must first download and install the ParaChat LiveHelp Client:

Logging In

 

The first time you start the ParaChat LiveHelp Client, you will be prompted for connection details, and a User Name and Password. This information is found in the set-up email you received after order placement, or after requesting a free evaluation.

 

Embedding Your Code

 

To use ParaChat LiveHelp for live chat, to monitor visitors using the ParaChat LiveHelp Gateway, and/or to begin building site analytics, the LiveHelp code will need to be embedded into your web pages.  To retrieve your code, simply right-click your site in the Monitored Sites tree within the ParaChat LiveHelp Client, and select Site Properties.  This will open the Site Properties console.  Click the Tracking Code tab, then click the Embedding Instructions button:

This will open the folder C:\Program Files\ParaChat LiveHelp Client\Tracking Code\ and the code that you need to embed will display in a Notepad text file (or your computer's default text editor).  Follow the instructions shown in the text file.

 

Changing Your Graphics

 

ParaChat LiveHelp allows you to customize the default 'Available', 'Not Available' and 'Invite' graphics.  Any GIF files can be used, allowing you to design buttons that match your existing site. To change the graphics, select the Visitor Chat tab in your Site Properties console. Under the Graphics >>> Agent Status sub-tab, click the Change... button for each graphic type.  The default chat text messages can also be changed here.

 

Changing The Logo

 

ParaChat LiveHelp allows you to change the logo displayed in the chat window. Click the Visitor Chat tab in your Site Properties console.  Under the Graphics >>> Logo sub-tab, click the Change button. The logo should be 119 pixels wide by 199 pixels high if you want it to exactly fit into the logo box.
