What is the ParaChat Signed Java Applet?

The security policy of Oracle's Java programming language prohibits access to a computer's clipboard on the Windows and Mac platforms unless the Java applet is confirmed as a "trusted" source by the end user.  Without access to the computer's clipboard, the end user cannot paste copied text into the Java environment such as a ParaChat Java chat room.  To enabled the copy and paste functionality, the licensee of ParaChat software must specifically implement the optional "signed applet" room code in their web page.  When the end user loads the ParaChat room implemented via a signed applet, a security dialog will display to the end user:

Windows

For access to the end user's computer clipboard to provide copy and paste functionality, a user must "trust" the ParaChat applet by clicking the "Run" button.  

So that the security dialog does not display again during subsequent chat sessions, check the "Always trust content from this publisher." check box in the security dialog before clicking the "Run" button.  Please note that the "From: host7.parachat.com" sub-domain "host7" can be different, but will always be followed by ".parachat.com".

If the end user does not want to "trust" the ParaChat applet to enable access to their computer's clipboard for copy and paste functionality, the end user may click the "Cancel" button.  The ParaChat room will still load, and the end user will be able to chat normally without copy and paste functionality.

Mac

For access to the end user's computer clipboard to provide copy and paste functionality, a user must "trust" the ParaChat applet by clicking the "Allow" button.

So that the security dialog does not display again during subsequent chat sessions, check the "Allow all applets from "host7.parachat.com" with this signature" check box (please note that the sub-domain "host7" can be different, but will always be followed by ".parachat.com").  Always trust content from this publisher." before clicking the "Allow" button.

If the end user does not want to "trust" the ParaChat applet to enable access to their computer's clipboard for copy and paste functionality, the end user may click the "Deny" button.  The ParaChat room will still load, and the end user will be able to chat normally without copy and paste functionality.

Retrieving ParaChat Signed Applet Room Code
Customers may retrieve signed applet room code from their ParaChat service administration area (Rooms tab -> modify a room -> Display Room Codes -> Signed Applet Room Code).  Customers may choose to implement the signed applet room code in a separate web page apart from their existing ParaChat room code so that only those users who require copy/paste can "trust" ParaChat software to enable that functionality.
