Using The Text Based Administration Commands
Instead of using the GUI admin console to administer the chat room, you can use Text Based Admin Commands. The commands below can be used by typing the command directly into the chat room itself. Only site admins, room admin and operators can use these text based commands. When you enter commands that contain ' [ ' and ' ] ' there is no need to include these brackets in your text commands.
Example: To close a chat room type #close This room is closed into the text entry area.
#help
Displays list of admin commands.
#status
Current configuration information about your Site ID, and the chat room into which the admin is currently logged in.
#topic [input new room greeting]
Set the room greeting for the chat room. The room greeting is displayed to each user when they log into the chat room.
#close [room closed message]
Close the chat room and display the message.
#open
Open the chat room.
#password [password]
Set a room password.
#nopassword
Remove the room password.
#gag [username]
Use the Gag feature to "silence" a user, which is to prevent a user's chat text from displaying in the chat window during a session. A gagged user's chat text is still displayed to them in their chat window. However, they are not aware that their chat text is being blocked from displaying to other users in the chat room.
#ungag [username]
Un-gag a user
#expel [username]
Expel ejects the user from the chat room.
#ban banip [username]
Ban a user's user name and IP address.
#ban banc [username]
Ban a user's user name and C class IP range.
#banip add [ip address]
Ban a user via their IP address.
#banip del [ip address]
Un-ban a user's IP address. This can also be done in the Service Administration Pages.
#webadmin
This command loads the URL or the Service Administration Page.
#helpdesk
This command loads the URL of the Documentation Pages.
#sound [sound file name]
This command sends a sound file to the chat room.
#sound [sound file name] [message]
This command sends a sound file and a message to the chat room.
