Voice & Video Settings - Options

 

Integrated Streaming Voice & Video Chat

 

ParaChat software includes an easy-to-use,integrated streaming voice & video chat option.  Customers may choose to purchase the voice-only option to enable streaming voice chat in their ParaChat rooms, or choose the voice & video option to enable streaming video chat.  Both options include three implementation styles from which each customer may configure their own ParaChat service:

 

One-to-One Private Chat

 

The One-to-One Private Chat implementation style restricts Audio/Video to private chat windows only.  A one-to-one streaming voice/video connection can be initiated between two consenting users by clicking the webcam/microphone icon in the private chat window's tool bar.  By clicking the icon, a request is sent from one user to the other to accept or decline an voice/video chat session.  If accepted, a new voice/video chat session window will load automatically (if a pop-up blocker prevents the launch of the window, a user may copy the voice/video chat session URL from the private chat window, and paste it into their web browser's address bar).

 

One-to-Many Broadcast Chat

 

The One-to-Many Broadcast Chat implementation style allows users to broadcast Audio/Video from the main chat window.  A user initiates their broadcast by selecting "Start My Audio/Video Broadcast" from the chat room's AV file menu (or optional AV toolbar button).  Other users may seek permission to view a broadcast by right-clicking the broadcaster's name in the User List, and selecting "View This User's Broadcast".  Broadcasters may allow or reject a user's request to participate in their broadcast.

 

Customers have access to several key configuration settings to control and define voice/video broadcasting capabilities.  The settings include the option to allow all users to broadcast, or to restrict broadcasting to user names defined in a Broadcaster List.  Defining broadcasters is ideal for moderated events where only specified VIP user names are able to broadcast video to the users in the chat room.  Other settings include the ability to launch the broadcast web page automatically when new users log into the chat room, as well as to automatically start a broadcast when defined broadcasters log into the chat room.

 

Both One-to-One Private Chat & One-to-Many Broadcast Chat

 

ParaChat software offers customers the ability to allow both voice/video chat implementation styles simultaneously.  In this fashion, users have the ability to both one-to-one private chat and to one-to-many broadcast chat within the same chat room.

 

NOTE: Customers who purchase the voice/video chat option may turn the feature off at any time without limiting access to their ParaChat room for text chat.  Additionally, customers who purchase the video chat option have the ability to activate voice-only chat at any time.
