Profanity Filter Settings

To add words to the profanity list, enter a one word per line. When you have completed all your entries click on the save button. Your list of filtered words will appear in an alphabetical list.

Please note that the profanity filter is a "filter", and text is filtered by the chat server before being distributed to the other users in the room. As such, if you were to type a bad word into your chat window, you would see the bad word because it is written directly to your own chat window without being filtered by the chat server. However, your text is filtered by the chat server prior to being distributed to other users. So the bad word that you typed, and can see, appears as "%%%%" in the other user's chat window. You may test this by opening your chat room in two different browser windows, and logging into the room with two different user names. Type a bad word into one window, and see how it appears in the second window.
